News & Updates - Spring 2021

The Fairport Central School District is planning to reopen grades K-6 to full-time, five days a week, beginning April 19, 2021:

  • Kindergarten through 6th grade students will begin full-time, five days per week of instruction on Monday, April 19, 2021 as the Fairport CSD had originally planned. This is for both in-person and fully virtual students.

  • Students in grades 7-12 will remain in their current hybrid learning program given the updated guidance the District received on April 9, 2021 (see below for details). Students will continue to rotate Wednesdays. This is for both in-person and fully virtual students.

    • Included in this message from April 10, 2021 is a reinforcement of the District's mitigation strategies, including the following CDC and NYSDOH endorsed strategies:

      • Practicing distancing less than 6-feet and greater than 3-feet to the greatest extent possible

      • Cohorting students where possible, particularly in grades K-6

      • Continuing mandatory face mask policy throughout the school day

      • Continuing to engage in COVID-19 testing in our schools, randomly testing 20% of our staff and students per month

      • Promoting correct hygiene and respiratory etiquette

      • Maximizing ventilation and air exchanges to support effective airflow

      • Regularly cleaning and disinfecting high-touch areas in our schools and buses

      • Managing master scheduling/period-by-period attendance to identify where students are each period

      • Continue with contact tracing protocols to support effective follow-up if cases are identified

      • Continue to use the Daily Health Screening through ParentSquare to ensure wellness before coming to school

      • Alternative instructional spaces will be assigned to classrooms where distancing is challenging to maintain

  • March 9: Parent survey administered - survey closes by Sunday, March 14 at 9 p.m.

  • March 10: Virtual Community Meeting (YouTube) - 6:30 p.m.

  • March 11-12: District will notify Advisory Committee volunteers

  • March 18: First Advisory Committee Meeting

  • March 23: Second Advisory Committee Meeting

  • March 24: Special BOE Meeting discussing a return to in-person learning (YouTube live)

  • March 25: Community Meeting (to share where we are) - (YouTube live)

  • March 26: Final Decision Form sent to parents to confirm placements and transportation requests

  • April 16: Asynchronous learning day for K-6 students & planning day for staff (focus: physical spaces and planning for the first days of school with combined cohorts). Students in staff in grades 7-12 will have a regular school day.

  • April 19: Return to Full-Time, In-Person and Virtual Learning

  • Wednesdays, April 21 and April 28: Asynchronous learning days for students & planning days for staff (focus: assess first days, make adjustments, plan and building stamina)
