The Fairport CSD has communicated with all district stakeholders its return to full-time, in-person learning plan for Grades K-6, as guided by the NYS Department of Health, that describes the school schedule planned for implementation on April 19, 2021. The plan calls for all learners - in-person and fully virtual - to participate in five full days of instruction per school week.

In-person learners: Students in grades K-6 attending school in-person will follow individual building schedules and attend class(es) on-site five days a week.

Hybrid learners: Students in grades 7-12 will follow established hybrid learning schedules that have been in use for the 2020-2021 school year.

Virtual learners in Grades K-5 will follow a district-wide schedule and attend district-wide virtual classes for a full school day, five days a week.

Fully virtual 6th grade students at Johanna Perrin will attend full-day instruction each day of the week. Virtual students will be participating in classes with other virtual students only. The virtual teacher will be working in collaboration with the rest of the JP teachers to make sure the curriculum is aligned with the in-person students. Students will be given a new schedule for their classes and will have natural breaks in the day.

Fully virtual 6th grade students at Martha Brown will attend full-day instruction each day of the week. Virtual students will be incorporated into classes of in-person students, and will “move” from class to class on the nine-period schedule. Breaks and lunches will also be built-in.

Virtual learners in Grades 9-12 will follow established virtual learning schedules that have been in use for the 2020-2021 school year.

    • Families will complete a Decision Form for each child attending FCSD schools by April 6. This form commits families/students Grades K-6 to either in-person OR 100% virtual learning for the remainder of the school year, beginning April 19.

    • The District will complete master scheduling for transportation, K-5 virtual classrooms, and in-person learning with the results of the Decision Forms.

    • The District anticipates returning to in-person and fully virtual learning for Grades K-6 on April 19.

All schools in New York State are required to enter attendance on a daily basis. In-person attendance will continue in classrooms every day. This will also help with any contact tracing efforts.

For students enrolled exclusively in the all virtual learning option, attendance will be coordinated with each Fairport home school on a daily basis. For example, a Fairport student attending an all virtual BOCES program will have attendance taken within his or her program and the attendance records will be shared with the student’s Fairport home school.

School personnel will be tracking attendance on a regular basis and will remain committed to re-engaging students in the educational process. Similar to previous years, we have attendance thresholds in place that will help identify students in need of support or in danger of absenteeism. We recognize that each case is different and that circumstances are complicated by our current situation. We remain steadfast in our commitment to collaborating with students and families to meet their needs and support them in any way possible.
